the khutbah

it was really after a long time ago, the last time i witnessed a really good jum3h khutbah.
this time, the khatib was habib ali al-jifri. even though i understood only 2 or 3 words from the whole khutbah, he mesmerised me so much. that was how khutbah should be delivered, as if it is a public speaking.

the hands gestured, the body talked, the eyes contacted. so energetic. no pause filler, no hesitation, full of confidence, he made the khutbah so much alived.

the translator after the khutbah was also great. he did read from the note he'd taken, but the way he conveyed it as if that was his own speech.

[am i praising them too much?]

what do our khatib offers? except a number of them, they give nothing much than a lullaby, as if they're saying in the khutbah: o muslim, come sleep. it's khutbah time, so come zzzzz. they're reading the pieces of paper, which a primary school children can do the same. is this how they show the ummah their worth of being imams?

what the imams can do to improve theirselves? attend a public speaking and presentation skills class.

In our place, the nite b4 Jum3a, the khatib will rite down wut he goin to say tommorow in a smalll piece of calendar paper (yg stail koyak2 tu). Then he will memorise it. So, tommorow they'll just throw their speech selambaly. this ia in one of the six masjid around my house lah. In the other, the khatib throw the khutba like talking with the jema3a. Sumtime he questions. And sumtime the jem3a answer.

They never use any staff to throw the khutba.

The khutba in Msia is not as bersemengat as their staff is...

hey anonymous (si yg tadaknama).. hm.. the way they delivered the khutbah in ur place is very interesting and lively!! i wish i could perform my jumaat prayer at your place, every single JUMAAT!

hm..in my place, which is still in msia, the tok khatib wasn't that bad, actually.. he delivered his text with full enthusiasm.. but the hampeh thing is, the topic is far from interesting.. while he can talk about lots of issues concerning our ummah like the palestine issues, the iraq, or at least he could talk about how to improve ourselves to be a better muslim so that we can get to the jannah, he talk about "PERCENTAGE OF RUMAH SETINGGAN IN SELANGOR, SELANGOR MAJU 2005, LET'S CLEAN THE RIVER AND A LOT MORE.. AND MOST OF EM ARE JUST NONSENSE.."

and i just can't help myself from shut my mind and sleep..

hmm..

i wish this suffering will come to an end..
